Leadership Awards - Introduction

NEWS: Download newsletter (Published September 2006)

This Highland wide project funded by the Big Lottery / New Opportunities Fund until August 2007 was designed to deliver the Level 1 in Sports Leadership and the Level 1 in Community Sports Leadership to all 29 Secondary Schools and some 24 community based facilities within the 8 administrative areas of the Highlands. These courses are open to anyone living in the Highlands and the good news is that they are completely free of charge!  It is an exciting project as we have to train 900 new sports leaders / assistant coaches during this time - can you help us to achieve this target by joining one of our courses?

The awards are co-ordinated nationally by Sports Leaders UK and they offer our candidate’s excellent opportunities to gain many skills that include leadership and vital life skills such as: communication; motivation; organisational skills; and teamwork; all of which develop the individual or the community they belong to. The courses are practical in their set up and use a variety of sporting activities to achieve their aims, many of which are based around having fun.

On completion of the course the candidates are awarded a nationally recognised certificate. This in turn could act as a stepping-stone to employment or be an impressive addition to any C.V. It could also help gain acceptance for further education or even other coach training courses.

Details of the individual awards are on the next page - The Awards
